Big Little Things

I am fascinated by how we humans have the tendency to stress on the tiniest things and yet neglect the big ones. Like how we notice someone's pimple and miss the beautiful face it is on; and how we are able to detect even the tiniest spot of coffee stain on an immaculate white shirt and not give attention to the biggest shred on a $3000 pair of designer jeans.

It is so disappointing because it has been in our nature to emphasize on one's flaws instead of his or her attributes. We always spot the dirt on people and make a big deal out of it, and yet we turn a blind eye to the pureness and sincerity of their soul. What's worse is that not only do people dig for holes in others, once they locate the hole, even the smallest of it they manage to make bigger. It's not really fun to soil another person's reputation just because of that little black spot you found on his or her sleeve.

Why can't we just embrace one another despite the little black spots that we have? Why can't we just ignore the tiny traces of dirt and instead, just focus attention to the great things one possesses? After all, we are created just the same way, beautiful and flawed. Being flawless is impossible so why pay so much attention to one's flaws? We all have them and in fact, it is these tiny flaws that make us fascinating beings.

We should learn to appreciate and embrace each other's beauty and pay no heed to their shortcomings. Besides, wouldn't it be nice to just love and be loved without having to brood on your imperfections?
